About the Program
In five semesters (2 years) candidates earn an MA in Educational Leadership and an Administrative Services Credential*. Designed for working professionals, the program features a blend of coursework and practical experience. Courses meet ten times per semester on evenings, with significant online components. All students work very closely with a mentor who prompts personal growth, deepening self-awareness in the leadership role. Additionally, she provides support to those students who qualify for the CA Administrative Services Credential.
*To qualify for an Administrative Services Credential, candidates must already have a CA CLEAR Teaching Credential. Please consult with the Program Director about steps to clear your credential.
School Change Project
A key aspect of the program is the undertaking of a major year-long, school-based practicum. The project must be of authentic value to the sponsoring school, will focus on school change, utilize innovative leadership practices, and draw on collaborative problem solving with peers. Please read our admissions packet for more information.
Tuition & Financial Aid
Tuition for students enrolled in 2017 is $809 per unit. We anticipate a slight increase in 2018; once set, the fees remain the same for all 5 semesters. In 2017, the combined 33 unit Master’s and Administrative Services Credential costs $26,697. BATTI offers a limited number of need-based grants to students. Please contact us for a financial aid form when you submit your application. University of the Pacific offers Stafford Unsubsidized loans.
The new Master’s in Educational Leadership draws on BATTI’s core values, successes and relationships: “learning by doing,” mentorships, small cohorts, school partnerships, careful and personalized design, and graduates prepared for long-term success in a diversity of challenging environments. Since 2002 the Bay Area Teacher Training Institute (BATTI) has been contributing to the field of education through its successful two-year elementary school combined Master’s and credential program. BATTI’s core philosophy is “learning by doing” – BATTI students work as paid, full-time assistant teachers in schools in the Bay Area while taking graduate courses and working closely with thoughtful, experienced mentors in an atmosphere of reflection, collegiality, and support.
